Qualcomm has a brand new processor for the Snapdragon 700 series. The new mobile platform, which will be introduced as Snapdragon 780G 5G, has an advanced CPU, GPU, AI Engine, ISP and more. The processor has not been officially disclosed yet.
However, the German blog Winfuture.de found some additional details as well as the press release on the new processor with 5nm manufacturing process. Qualcomm is expected to officially announce the processor very soon.
First 5nm Snapdragon 700 series chipset
Snapdragon 780G 5G has the same manufacturing process as Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line chipset Snapdragon 888. It is stated that the eight-core processor, which is said to be manufactured in Samsung’s factories, contains two Cortex-A78 cores and six Cortexes clocked at 2.4GHz.
It is also stated that the processor’s A55 core has a clock speed of 1.8GHz. On the GPU side of the processor, it is said to be Adreno 642, which contains True 10-bit HDR gaming, ultra-smooth gameplay and updatable GPU drivers.
In addition, the processor is claimed to have a new triple ISP called Spectra 570, a first for the Snapdragon 7 series, capable of shooting from three cameras at the same time. If the claims are right thanks to the processor, it can shoot from the zoom, wide and ultra wide lenses simultaneously.
Qualcomm’s press release reveals that the processor has “a new low-light architecture that powers professional quality photos in any lighting condition”. It is also emphasized that the processor supports 4K HDR and HDR10 + video capture.
The Snapdragon 780G 5G is stated to come with Hexagon 770, a 6th-generation AI Engine with up to 12 TOP of AI performance, twice its predecessor. On the modem side, it is claimed that there is a Snapdragon X53 5G modem-RF system with download speeds of up to 3.3 Gbps at frequencies below 6 GHz.
According to another information in the news, the processor also has Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 and offers multi-gigabit Wi-Fi 6 speeds up to 3.6 Gbps. In addition, the new generation processor has the same sound characteristics as the Snapdragon 888 and supports the new Snapdragon Sound technology.
Qualcomm predicts that devices powered by the new chipset will be released in the second quarter of the year. WinFuture predicts that the next generation processor Snapdragon 780G 5G will be used in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G.
